The paper titled Attraction, passion, and confidence: the paths to undergraduates’ entrepreneurial intentions, presented by Carlos Peixeira Marques and co-authored by two other CETRAD researchers, Carla Susana Marques and Carmem Leal, and by the research assistant Cristina Sousa, was awarded the 1st place on the best papers’ session at the 6th International Scientific Conference on Business and Economics, which took place at the South East European University, Tetovo, North Macedonia, during May 12-13 2023.

The study is an outcome from the Energy Transition Entrepreneurs in Action (ETEIA) project, which aims at fostering the entrepreneurial education in high education curricula to increase students’ entrepreneurial potential. Elaborating on research from a survey of 650 undergraduates studying at UTAD – University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Portugal), AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland), and OSTİM Technical University (Türkiye), the paper claims that entrepreneurial education must, in the first place, elicit positive feelings regarding the entrepreneurial activity and, subsequently, increase students’ confidence on their financial skills (budgeting, financing, contracting, pricing). These results will help to improve entrepreneurship programs, as will be suggested in a Training Handbook that is being prepared by the consortium under the leadership of UTAD.
