CETRAD held the event “Industrial Property” on 20 May 2026, from 14h15 to 17h30, at the Geosciences Auditorium of the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), under the scope of the UI-TRANSFER 2.0 project, financed by FEDER through COMPETE2030.
The initiative brought together students, researchers and institutional representatives, registering a total of 110 participants, which demonstrates the relevance and interest of the topic within the academic community.
The event was divided into two main moments. The first session, dedicated to “University–Industry Cooperation”, featured a round table moderated by Luís Caixinhas, Patent Engineer at Inventa, with the participation of researchers awarded through the UPGRADE 2026 programme, as well as Doctor Jorge Oliveira, representing IAPMEI. The discussion focused on collaboration opportunities between academia and industry, as well as on the importance of transforming scientific knowledge and innovation into practical and economic value.
The second part of the event consisted of a training session on Industrial Property, where participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on topics such as patent registration, trademarks, and industrial designs and models. Through practical and accessible examples, the session highlighted the importance of protecting ideas, projects and innovation in academic and entrepreneurial contexts.
This initiative reinforced the commitment of the UI-TRANSFER 2.0 project to promoting knowledge transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthening the connection between universities and the business sector.
