CETRAD started the new year with a rural well-being forum on the 6th of January. This latest event in our Rural Well-being Discussion Series was organised in Raiva, a small mountain village in Oliveira do Arda, Castelo de Paiva, Portugal.

Our CETRAD team met with an enthusiastic group of residents in the local theatre building, the heart of the village. The lively discussion reflected on what a good life means, and what are the benefits and challenges of living in a low population density region versus a big cosmopolitan city.

The more we engage with the local people in the North, the more it seems that living in a Portuguese village is not a forced choice but a conscious rational decision in the pursuit of a better quality of life.
