Octávio Sacramento holds a PhD in Anthropology (ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon), is assistant professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD, Vila Real), and researcher at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD-UTAD). His main research interests are related to the mobilities of people within the contexts of tourism and migration, namely the intersections between these two types of flows, the cultural (dis)encounters, the subjectivity reconfigurations, the public health challenges, the socio-territorial dynamics in tourist and migratory destinations, and the policies that regulate the transnational dislocations of people.
