Bruno Capela Pires holds a Master’s degree in Sociology: Exclusions and Social Policies from FCSH-UBI (2019). He is currently a PhD student in Development, Societies and Territories at ECSH-UTAD, performing a study about elderly support mechanisms, in ageing in the local context, during the COVID-19 pandemic. His main research interests are mainly concerned with Welfare State models and the relationship between place-neutral and place-based public policies to mitigate social vulnerabilities. His scientific pursuits aim to understand phenomena related to child and elderly social policies, child protection programs, dynamics of socioeconomic inclusion of ethnic minorities, youth social entrepreneurship and intervention with victims.

Also, he led a full-semester class as a guest professor, in ECSH-UTAD, in 2022.
