September 13th

We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for the International Conference “Pandemic Crises in Rural Villages” has been extended until August 31st.

The International Conference “Pandemic Crises in Rural Villages” aims to debate with experts and responsibles for regulations in rural areas the best ways to act in the case of pandemic and humanitarian crisis. It will pay special attention to the role of culture, arts and cultural heritage in these situations. It will present ethnographic studies, changing discourses and good practice examples of villages with a declining population. The conference will also analyze how the agricultural and cultural sectors have suffered in times of crisis.

Even though the LEARNVILLE-partners started working on the project Learning Villages:
Citizenship, Entrepreneurship, Heritage & Environmental Education for Rural Sustainable Development only recently, this multiplier event will show and reflect on partial results of all intellectual outputs. As a matter of fact in the selected villages learning communities aim to create ecological and social added value to spaces facing demographic challenges (high aging index, depopulation). In order to accomplish this, LEARNVIL focuses on green tractor elements: gardening, eco-agriculture, agrarian heritage, rural landscape. The conference will illustrate how “green” tractor elements like community engagement, rural development and dynamization, heritage education, environmental education and tourism attractions can be activated and/or enhanced to combat the negative consequences of the pandemic crisis.

Not only researchers, but also local entrepreneurs, mediators, villages’ majors, councillors or other employees, rural development agents, students and local residents are welcome.

Sub-themes:

  • Pandemic Crisis and Culture;
  • Resilience in Pandemic Times;
