CETRAD invites,

The management of CETRAD, together with the management of DESG, are promoting a cycle of advanced training in the Short Advanced Courses model. The sixth course will focus on the GeoDa software with the speaker Prof. Dr. Tomaz Ponce Dentinho (Azores University) and will last 12 hours.
It will take place on February 22, from 14:00 to 19:00 and February 23 from 09:00 to 16:00 in auditorium B0.01 of the UTAD Laboratory Complex.

Program:
First day: Introduction to Regional Science Methods
      a.    Localization Measures (1 hour)
      b.    Cluster Analysis (1 hour)
      c.    Factor Analysis (1 hour)
      d.    Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (1 hour)
      e.    Territorial Regression Models (1 hour)
      f.    Loading Data into GEODA (1 hour)
Second day: Applying Regional Science Methods with GEODA
      a.    Cluster Analysis (1 hour)
      b.    Factor Analysis (1 hour)
      c.    Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (1 hour)
      d.    Territorial Regression Models (1 hour)
      e.    Presentation of Analysis (2 hours).

Biographical note:
Tomaz Ponce Dentinho holds a PhD in Regional Economics from the University of Newcastle (1994) and is a lecturer at the University of the Azores. His teaching and research have focused on regional science, environmental economics and agricultural economics. He coordinates research and postgraduate teaching in Sustainable Regional Development, with projects and work in integrated water management, renewable energy management, land management and planning, agricultural systems planning, economic evaluation of environmental resources and economic-environmental operational models. He is editor of the journal Regional Science Policy and Practice.
