Researcher Carla Ferreira, from CETRAD/UTAD, was featured on the program 90 Seconds of Science, where she presented the European project AgroServ โ Integrated SERVices Supporting a Sustainable AGROecological Transition.
AgroServ is a transdisciplinary project funded by the European Union, with the mission of supporting research and innovation in agriculture and the agroecological transition. Bringing together 73 European partners and providing 143 services, the project promotes access to research infrastructures that cover different dimensions, ranging from the molecular to the social level.
At CETRAD, AgroServ is associated with the creation of the Douro SocioEco Living Lab, an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration with stakeholders in the Douro agricultural system. In this context, CETRAD provides four specialized services designed to support research, decision-making, and the assessment of agroecological transition processes:
Surveys, data collection, analysis, and modelling: a specialized service focused on deliberative action models, analyzing attitudes, motivations, social norms, and behaviors related to sustainability, enabling data collection at both regional and value-chain levels.
Cognitive mapping: a service that identifies the values and perspectives of decision-makers facing complex sustainability and agroecological transition challenges, supporting collaborative decision-making and the design of sustainable strategies for agri-food chains and regions.
Stakeholder panels : customizable surveys that allow the assessment and long-term monitoring of agroecological transition processes across different sectors, value chains, and regions, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
Socioeconomics framework: a tool that measures the benefits and co-benefits of adopting agroecological practices, supporting the development of strategies to maximize sustainability and resilience.
The research developed at CETRAD seeks to complement the technical and scientific dimensions of agriculture by integrating the economic and social aspects that are essential for a truly sustainable and resilient agroecological transition.
According to Carla Ferreira, AgroServ helps transform data, knowledge, and experience into concrete solutions for a more sustainable, innovative, and future-ready agriculture.
